How to Make Pear Salad (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Pear Salad, or 'Salad Pir', is a creative adaptation celebrated in Malaysian multicultural cuisine, blending the freshness of local produce with unique Malaysian flavors. While pears are not native to Malaysia, their crisp sweetness pairs beautifully with indigenous ingredients like daun limau purut (kaffir lime leaves), cili padi (bird’s eye chilli), and roasted peanuts for crunch. This refreshing vegetarian salad stands out for its light yet vibrant taste, making it a popular lunch choice among health-conscious Malaysians. Drawing inspiration from the diverse culinary landscape of Malaysia, this Pear Salad incorporates tropical elements such as shredded carrot, cucumber, and a zesty limau nipis (lime) dressing, seasoned with aromatic lemongrass and a hint of pandan for a subtle fragrance. The result is a salad that is both satisfying and guilt-free, ideal for those seeking to enjoy traditional Malaysian food in a healthier way. Whether served at a family lunch or as a light meal during festive gatherings, Pear Salad offers a burst of flavor and nutrition, embodying the harmony of Malaysia’s multicultural food heritage.
