Sederhana

Mackerel Fish Curry, known locally as 'Kari Ikan Kembung', is a beloved Malaysian dish with deep roots in the South Indian communities of Malaysia, particularly in Penang and Kedah. This curry is a beautiful expression of Malaysia’s multicultural cuisine, blending aromatic spices, fresh herbs, and local ingredients such as lemongrass (serai), curry leaves, and santan (coconut milk). The dish is celebrated for its bold flavours—tangy, mildly spicy, and richly aromatic, making it a staple at Malaysian lunch tables. What sets Kari Ikan Kembung apart is its use of fresh mackerel, a fish abundant in Malaysian waters and highly valued for its firm texture and robust flavour, paired with a light coconut gravy that’s less oily and rich compared to other curries. Enjoyed with steamed rice or roti canai, this healthy fish curry is perfect for those looking to savour authentic Malaysian taste without compromising on nutrition. By using minimal oil and plenty of fresh herbs, this version of Mackerel Fish Curry is light, wholesome, and perfect for calorie-conscious eaters. It's a wonderful way to experience the vibrant flavors of Malaysia while supporting a balanced diet.
