How to Make Egg Dosa (Traditional & Healthy Version)
Egg Dosa, or 'Dosai Telur', is a beloved breakfast staple in many Malaysian Indian households, especially in the bustling communities of Klang and Penang. This savory crepe, made from a fermented rice and urad dal (black gram) batter, is topped with a protein-rich egg, creating a satisfying and nutritious meal to kickstart the day. Reflecting Malaysia’s multicultural tapestry, Egg Dosa is often enjoyed with sides of coconut chutney (using fresh santan) and tangy tomato sambal, incorporating local ingredients like pandan and lemongrass for a unique Malaysian twist. What makes this dish special in Malaysia is its adaptability and the use of local flavors. Street vendors and home cooks alike may add finely chopped daun bawang (spring onions) or even a hint of fresh kunyit (turmeric) to the batter. The result is a crispy, golden dosa with a soft, flavorful egg layer that appeals to all ages. Quick to prepare and easy to digest, Egg Dosa is a perfect choice for those seeking a wholesome, versatile breakfast that celebrates Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage.
